Tiffany C. Tomita earned her paralegal certificate from the University of San Diego’s ABA-approved Intensive Day Program, completing 24 units in one term, 4 months, with a 3.93 GPA. Concurrently, she interned at the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, Inc., working with attorneys to provide free legal assistance for people living in San Diego County who qualify for the organization’s services.
Since then, Tomita has been entrusted with a multitude of tasks. She was on the litigation team that defeated class certification in defense of a manufacturer in a putative class action in which damages were alleged to exceed $750 million; the parties subsequently reached a settlement pursuant to which the client paid no money to plaintiffs. She frequently assisted partners and attorneys with their pro bono and volunteer activities; tasks ranged from designing brochures to planning events and retreats to creating presentations.
With Lurie, Zepeda, Schmalz, Hogan & Martin, Tomita assisted attorneys in court during a 4-day evidentiary hearing regarding terminating sanctions and worked with the senior paralegal on large-scale civil litigation matters involving motions for summary adjudication, deposition preparation, and managing production documents.
Tomita has assisted attorneys on insurance matters, product liability matters, corporate matters, trust, estate, and probate matters, and business litigation generally. Her interest is in legal technology and electronic discovery.
